There is a cross of sacrifice near the main entrance of Macclesfield Cemetery (in Prestbury Road), adjacent to which is a plaque, unveiled in 2014 to mark the centenary of the first world war, naming servicemen and women of both world wars who are buried in the cemetery. Many more, who lost their lives overseas, are remembered on family gravestones.
