10 November 2018: Macclesfield Memorials Dedication and Open Day

Macclesfield’s memorials from churches which have now closed are being relocated from Christ Church to the Silk Museum in Park Lane. Visit the Silk Museum free of charge on Saturday 10th November to see the memorials, learn about the people named on them, and take part in some family activities.


10.40am: Macclesfield Memorials Dedication and Remembrance Speeches

John Varney, Chair, Silk Heritage Trust and The Worshipful the Mayor of Macclesfield, Councillor Adam Schofield
Followed by The Last Post and wreath laying, archive film, performances by Magic Voices choir, Pop-Up Family History Help Desk by the Family History Society of Cheshire, and more.


12 noon onwards: Free Family Activities in the School Room
Create Remembrance Bunting and Memorial telegraph messages
+ Make your own Christmas decorations

All day: New Makers’ Place 
Meet the brilliant craftspeople making unique handmade gifts
+ demonstrations and craft activities

All day: New Silk Shop 
Exquisite silk products – perfect for Christmas

All day: Refreshments available in The Jacquard Café


You can also explore Paradise Mill, Macclesfield’s hidden gem, adjacent to the Silk Museum
