EARLY LIFE

Son of Noah and Sarah Whittaker, of Knowsley Bower, Ryles Park, Macclesfield.

 

WW1 SERVICE

Thomas was found to be missing and was later assumed to have been killed in action on or around 15 April 1918.

 

COMMEMORATION

Private Thomas Whittaker has no known grave and is commemorated on panel ref. 5 at the Ploegsteert Memorial, Belgium. The Commonwealth War Graves Commission holds casualty details for Private Thomas Whittaker, and he is listed on the Imperial War Museum’s Lives of the First World War website.

Locally, Private Thomas Whittaker is commemorated on the Macclesfield Park Green, Town HallSt Michael’s Church and St John’s Church war memorials.
