EARLY LIFE

Son of Harry and Annie Elizabeth Goodwin, of 156 Park Lane, Macclesfield, Cheshire.

 

MILITARY SERVICE

Previously served as Private 42861, Royal Welsh Fusiliers.

 

 

COMMEMORATION

Private Gilbert Goodwin has no known grave and is commemorated on Bay 8 of the Arras Memorial. The Commonwealth War Graves Commission holds casualty details for Private Gilbert Goodwin, and he is listed on the Imperial War Museum’s Lives of the First World War website.

In Macclesfield, Private Gilbert Goodwin is commemorated on the Park Green, Town HallSt Michael’s Church and Christ Church School war memorials, and on St John’s Church roll of honour.
