Son of Mr. and Mrs. I. Blackhurst, of Wood Heath Farm, Lower Withington, Chelford, Cheshire.

WW1 SERVICE

 

COMMEMORATION

Private Fred Blackhurst has no known grave and is commemorated on Panel Ref. 61 to 63 of the Tyne Cot Memorial in Belgium. The Commonwealth War Graves Commission holds casualty details for Private Fred Blackhurst, and he is listed on the Imperial War Museum’s Lives of the First World War website.

Locally, Private Fred Blackhurst is commemorated on the Lower Withington war memorial.

 

NOTES

Brother of Frank Blackhurst, who served as Private 18003 with the 10th Cheshire Regt and was killed in action on 7 June 1917; and Peter Blackhurst, who served with the Royal Navy.
