Son of Samuel Orme, of 85, Great King St., Macclesfield; husband of Ada Eleanor Orme, of 19, Lyon St., Macclesfield.

Private Samuel Orme has no known grave and is commemorated on Panel Ref. 120 to 124, 162 to 162A, and 163A of the Tyne Cot Memorial in Belgium. The Commonwealth War Graves Commission holds casualty details for Private Samuel Orme, and he is listed on the Imperial War Museum’s Lives of the First World War website.

Private Samuel Orme is commemorated in Macclesfield on the Park Green, Town HallSt Michael’s Church, and Christ Church war memorials, and on the Macclesfield Post Office war memorial and roll of honour.

  1. Thank you for displaying this information. Samuel Orme was my great grandfather. His widow Ada never remarried bringing up 3 boys Wilf, Frank and Dennis on her own. Dennis died 2 years ago in Macclesfield. Wilf married Phylis and had one daughter Sheila my mother, who died last year in Lincoln. Sheila married Fred Lucas in 1959. I was born in Worcester in 1960. We moved to Lincoln in 1967. I, Helen Durasamy married Logan Durasamy in 1982 and have three sons, like Samuel Orme. History repeats !! Seeven 1987, Nathen 1992 and Khristian 1996, all born in Lincoln.
