EARLY LIFE

Son of George and Hannah Riddlesworth, of 101 Chestergate, Macclesfield; husband of Mary Jane Riddlesworth.

COMMEMORATION

L/Cpl Leonard Riddlesworth is buried in Grave Ref. A. 4 of the Croonaert Chapel Cemetery in Belgium; his father asked for the words GONE BUT NOT FORGOTTEN to be added to the headstone. The Commonwealth War Graves Commission holds casualty details for L/Cpl Leonard Riddlesworth, and he is listed on the Imperial War Museum’s Lives of the First World War website.

In Macclesfield, L/Cpl Leonard Riddlesworth is commemorated on the Park Green and Town Hall war memorials.

 

NOTES

Cousin of Private Frank Dixon Riddlesworth, who served with the 7th Cheshire Regt and was killed in Palestine on 4 November 1917.
