Son of Mr. and Mrs. I. Blackhurst, of Wood Heath Farm, Lower Withington, Chelford, Cheshire.

WW1 SERVICE

 

COMMEMORATION

Private Frank Blackhurst has no known grave and is commemorated on Panel Ref. 22 of the Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial in Belgium. The Commonwealth War Graves Commission holds casualty details for Private Frank Blackhurst, and he is listed on the Imperial War Museum’s Lives of the First World War website.

Locally, Private Frank Blackhurst is commemorated on the Lower Withington war memorial.

 

NOTES

Brother of Fred Blackhurst, who served as Private 18002 with the 10th Cheshire Regt and was killed in action on 4 October 1917 and Peter Blackhurst, who served with the Royal Navy.
