The death of Private Joseph Murphy was printed in the announcements section of the Macclesfield Times of 8 June 1917:

MURPHY – June 3rd, at Hurdsfield House Auxiliary Military Hospital, Joseph Murphy, aged 30 years.

 

COMMEMORATION

Private Joseph Murphy is buried in grave ref. Z. 19119A in Macclesfield Cemetery. The Commonwealth War Graves Commission holds casualty details for Private Joseph Murphy, and he is listed on the Imperial War Museum’s Lives of the First World War website.

Private Joseph Murphy is not commemorated on any Macclesfield war memorials.
