EARLY LIFE

Son of the late William and Mary Houghton; husband of Esther Howard (formerly Houghton), of 26, Allen St., Macclesfield.

WW1 SERVICE

Samuel’s death was reported in the Macclesfield Times of 13 April 1917.

 

COMMEMORATION

Private Samuel Houghton has no known grave and is commemorated on Panel Ref. 19 of the Jerusalem Memorial, Israel. The Commonwealth War Graves Commission holds casualty details for Private Samuel Houghton.

In Macclesfield, Private Samuel Houghton is commemorated on the Park Green, Town Hall and St Michael’s Church war memorials.
