EARLY LIFE

Husband of Lucy Russell, of 19 Pierce St, Macclesfield.

 

 

WW1 SERVICE

Alfred Russell’s death was announced by the family in the Macclesfield Times on 31 March 1917:

RUSSELL – March 25th, at 49, Station Street, Alfred I Russell (sic), aged 49 years.

 

COMMEMORATION

Private Alfred Russell is buried in grave ref. H. 6377 in Macclesfield Cemetery. His wife paid for the inscription “Father in they gracious keeping leave we now our loved one sleeping” to be added to his headstone.

The Commonwealth War Graves Commission holds casualty details for Private Alfred Russell.

In Macclesfield, Private Alfred Russell is commemorated on the Park GreenTown Hall and St Michael’s Church war memorials.
