Died of pneumonia 7th February 1917 at the Military Hospital, Salisbury, aged 32

 

EARLY LIFE

Son of Charles and Sarah Hammond; husband of Ann Joyce Hammond, of 76, Mill Lane, Macclesfield.

WW1 SERVICE

William’s death was reported in the Macclesfield Times of 16 February 1917.

 

 

COMMEMORATION

Private William Hammond is buried in grave ref. P. 13481 in Macclesfield Cemetery.

The Commonwealth War Graves Commission holds casualty details for Private William Hammond.

In Macclesfield, Private William Hammond is commemorated on the Park GreenTown HallSt Michael’s Church and Brunswick Wesleyan Church war memorials.
