Son of John Robert and Ellen Green, of “Wyoming”, 33 Victoria Rd., Macclesfield.

WW1 SERVICE

John was reported missing in action in the Macclesfield Times of 26 January 1917.

 

COMMEMORATION

2nd Lt John Green has no known grave and is commemorated on Panel Ref. Pier and Face 13 A and 14 C of the Thiepval Memorial in France. The Commonwealth War Graves Commission holds casualty details for 2nd Lt John Green.

In Macclesfield, 2nd Lt John Green is commemorated on the Park Green, Town HallSt Michael’s Church and King’s School war memorials.

Elsewhere, he is commemorated on the Manchester University war memorial.
