Son of William and Caroline Etchells, of White Cottage, Lane Ends, Sutton, Macclesfield, Cheshire.

WW1 SERVICE

Peter’s death was reported in the Macclesfield Times of 26 January 1917.

 

COMMEMORATION

Private Peter Etchells is buried in Grave Ref. Priez Farm Mem. 13. in Guards’ Cemetery, Combles, France. His mother asked for a cross and the words “Bear ye one another’s burdens” to be added to his headstone.

The Commonwealth War Graves Commission holds casualty details for Private Peter Etchells.

Locally, Private Peter Etchells is commemorated on the Sutton St James’ Church and Walker Lane war memorials.
