Son of Serjt. Maj. John Green and Mary Jane Green, of 49 Lowerhouse, West Bollington, Macclesfield.

Charles’s death was reported in the Macclesfield Times of 29 September 1916.

 

COMMEMORATION

L/Cpl Charles Green has no known grave and he is named on Pier and Face 8 D of the Thiepval Memorial, Somme, France. The Commonwealth War Graves Commission holds casualty details for L/Cpl Charles Green.

Locally, L/Cpl Charles Green is commemorated on the Macclesfield Park Green, Town HallSt Michael’s Church and Christ Church School war memorials, and also on the Bollington (Parish) and Bollington (Palmerston St) war memorials.
