Harold’s death was reported in the Macclesfield Times of 29 September 1916.

 

 

COMMEMORATION

Private Harold Gardiner has no known grave and he is named on Pier and Face 8 D of the Thiepval Memorial, Somme, France. The Commonwealth War Graves Commission holds casualty details for Private Harold Gardiner.

In Macclesfield, Harold Gardiner is commemorated on the Park Green, Town Hall and St Michael’s Church war memorials.
