George Hingston, Sgt G/2952, 9th Battalion, Royal Sussex Regiment
Died 31st August 1916 in the Somme, France, aged 23

 

EARLY LIFE

Son of Lawrence and Alice Tadman (formerly Hingston), of “Merrymount,” West Hall Rd., Warlingham, Surrey, and the late George Henry Hingston. An employee of the Westminster Bank. Ltd.

COMMEMORATION

Sgt George Hingston has no known grave and he is named on Pier and Face 7 C of the Thiepval Memorial, Somme, France.
The Commonwealth War Graves Commission holds casualty details for Sgt George Hingston.

In Macclesfield, Sgt George Hingston is commemorated on the King’s School war memorial. Elsewhere, he is commemorated on the war memorial at Warlingham, Surrey.
