Died 10th August 1915 in Gallipoli, Turkey, aged 42

Son of John and Jane Powell, of Mottram St. Andrew, Prestbury, Macclesfield, Cheshire; husband of Amy Powell, of 16 Duke St., Alderley Edge, Cheshire. Foreman bricklayer. Served for 25 years with the 5th Cheshire Volunteers. Treasurer to the Wilmslow District of United Free Gardeners and the Yew Tree Lodge of Free Gardeners.

COMMEMORATION

CSM George Powell has no known grave and is commemorated on panel ref. 75 to 77 on the Helles Memorial, Turkey. The Commonwealth War Graves Commission holds casualty details for CSM George Powell.
