At 8.0 AM the Bn, of which about 1 1/2 Coys had reached the firing line, was ordered to attack HILL 70 in conjunction with those of other Bns of 159 BDE & 158th & 160th BDE who were in firing line. This was unsuccessful and the 1/7 Ches. Regt. suffered somewhat severely. The 159th BDE & all other troops were ordered to attack again at 5 PM. They again met opposition & were unsuccessful. At 7 PM Turks, in many cases disguised as Ghurkhas, attacked, but were easily beaten off leaving many dead & wounded, especially on immediate left.
